The movement is the famous caliber IWC. cal 73, a beautifull manually wound movement with a high lever of finishing. Some background information
International Watch Co (IWC) was founded by Florentine Aristo Jones in 1868. He worked as director at the prestigious Howard Watch & Clock Co in Boston (USA). He wanted to start a watch company in Switzerland, using the knowledge of modern en industrial production methods from the United States and combine it with Swiss craftsmanship and lower wages to make watches of high quality to be sold on the American market. Beside having a great reputation in dress watches, they also made a reputation in military & pilot’s watches.
